  1. Switch To A Pinterest Business Account

Make sure your Pinterest page is already set up as a business account NOT a personal page. Ensure you have implemented SEO into your Pinterest description, including how your business helps your dream client/customer. By doing this, maximises your visibility and increases your chances of being found by your audience.

EXAMPLE: Instead of just saying “Betsy & Francis” we say “Betsy & Francis | Small Business Marketing Tips & Ideas for Women” because our potential new clients won’t search our names, they’ll search for our services to find out about us.

HOT TIP: Pinterest will give you a custom piece of code to pop onto your website, this will help you to see the analytics and take note of what pieces of content are doing well and driving the most traffic.

2. SEO is king!

You need to make sure that your target market can always find you. There are a few ways you can do this using SEO on Pinterest:

Figure out what keywords are associated with your brand and then use them in the title and description of your pin.

All you need to do to find this out is look up your small business type or how you help your audience in the search bar and see what your target market is searching for, this will help you to be found by them.

As mentioned earlier, maximise the visibility of your account by having a detailed description on your profile page with exactly what you do and do it in a way that relates to popular word searches.

3. Pinterest Board Optimisation

Always remember, never ever confuse your audience, that’s exactly how you lose them! You have a second to get their attention and keep it, make sure your boards are looking beautiful and are relevant to your business’s products or services.

Organise your Pinterest boards so that they are SEO optimised and that the most engaged with are in the top 5. Make sure the cover photos of each are attractive and eye-catching, you want to wow your audience with amazing taste!

4. Pin consistently

Pinterest wants the user to be regularly using the platform; you should aim to create 3-5 pins that drive back to your website at least once a week and to re-pin at least 3-5 times a day.

TOP TIP: Pinterest doesn’t like it if you have a week off and then spend your Thursday night pinning like a madwoman after having had a few too many wines.

Comment and like other people’s pages and boards, Pinterest is just like any other social platform, they want you to be social! By doing this you will attract more followers, and having more followers will increase your engagement and in turn boost your pins to a wider unknown audience.

5. Create Multiple Blog Post Pins

Whenever we share a new blog post on Pinterest we create 3-5 pins for the same content. Why? Because what appeals to one person isn’t what appeals to another.

We stay within our brand guidelines but we mix up the artwork, colours, and composition attracting a wider range of pinners depending on their taste and style preference, this means your juicy pin will get seen by more eyes and in turn, drive more traffic.

HOT TIP: Include your pin artwork on your blog post and use the Chrome extensions to pin to your Pinterest board.
