Why You're Not Growing on Instagram In 2022

 
 
 
 
 
 

Instagram doesn't hate you! Its aim is to keep you on the platform for as long as possible, and I know that, as a conscious business owner, you struggle with this. Why shouldn't you? You want to get in and get out. You want the growth, reach and followers you used to get. But at the moment you feel like you're giving the platform 10x your effort, energy, and time for fewer results than ever before.

So, if you're feeling stuck with Instagram, here are a couple of quick and easy fixes to give your business a boost

 
 
 
 

1. Document your story (don't just sell)

Your small business will continue to evolve. What you sell and offer now is not going to be what you sell and offer in 5 years’ time. So by ONLY selling your product or service, you are inevitably putting a sell-by date on your business.

BUT, if you create a brand around yourself, grow an emotional connection, document your story and create a business that can't be compared to anything else (because nobody can be like you!), you will not only give your brand the longevity and success it needs for many years to come, but you will also give your followers a reason to keep coming back over and over again to your account.

Because the truth is, we are all nosey and voyeuristic.

So give the people what they want so you can have the business (and income) that you want!

Some things to try in the coming days:

- Talk to the camera on stories updating your followers on your life and BTS (behind the scenes) of your business. Make them feel involved and invested in you and your story.

- Share images of you and your family. Your followers want to see the human behind the business. (selfies do waaaaay better than professional shots, so don't let not having a decent camera stop you - I don't want to hear any excuses ).

Take a screenshot of your insights and engagement before and after this exercise. You will be amazed at what these two exercises will do!

2. Grow engagement by asking questions.

Don't just tell and show....ask!

Your captions are still super valuable!

But, the problem is, that most business owners don't know how to use them correctly, so let me help you:

- Always ask a question at the end of your caption to encourage followers to start a conversation. This won't only grow trust, but also give your posts a boost to new audiences as Instagram will see it as content your audience is finding super valuable.

- Poll and ask questions to your audience on stories. This isn't just great for finding out EXACTLY what your audience wants more of, but it also helps Instagram to see that you are building relationships and a community of engaged users. This is one of Instagram’s most valuable pillars. Everything they do on the platform is to build relationships, so, if you want to get in their good books, start a (real) conversation with your audience today.

3. Give Instagram what they want!

I'm the mirror you have been avoiding! One word. Reels.

I know you don't want to hear it, but by holding back from Reels a minute longer, you're seriously stopping your business from growing.

Reels is already losing its strength, the algorithm has yet again changed and reels aren't getting the same reach as they did 6 months ago. HOWEVER, they are still by far the BEST way to reach new audiences and get new followers. Just think, soon, you WILL run out of your warm audience and your sales WILL go down if you don't have a strategy to constantly replenish your audience with fresh followers to nurture and sell to.

Reels are the only way you can continue to grow your business to new customers on the platform
